Lowering your wedding costs with these 8 tips

You're in the midst of planning your dream wedding, but invoices and quotes are starting to add up. What if we could teach you how to lower your anticipated wedding budget? But without lowering your expectations or without compromising on decor, food, or any of the other things that make a wedding absolutely amazing and one-of-a-kind?

Trust us, that’s quite possible with the right guidance.

No. 1 lower your guest list

The more guests you invite, the more expensive everything gets – including the venue itself! If your venue charges per head (which many do), then having fewer guests will definitely help with lowering your wedding costs. And we don't even need to get into how much less stress there will be on your big day when there are fewer people there!

No. 2 plan ahead for diy projects

When it comes to lowering your wedding costs, you can save money by doing some DIY projects yourself – especially if you have an artistic flair. However, please choose your DIY projects wisely, so that you can finish them in time. If this is not a skill you particularly enjoy doing, please leave it to the industry experts to do it!

No. 3 hire a dj instead of live music

Not only do DJs take care of the sound systems and lighting, but they are also usually the MCs of the night. Kill two birds with one stone by hiring a DJ that matches the energy you want for your wedding night.

No. 4 get creative with your venue

If you're having trouble finding a place that you love but won't break the bank, think outside the box! Consider hosting your wedding in an approved Airbnb or even your backyard. In fact, Peerspace is one of my favorite non-traditional websites to look at event spaces.

No. 5 forgo party favors

Truth be told, most of the party favors are left at the reception tables – especially if they are non-edible. We have seen this happen countless times, so it is best to forgo the idea and trim your expenses.

No. 6 look for deals online

Do you have a favorite wedding publication or store? Then make sure to sign up for their newsletters and keep yourself in the loop. Also, it is handy to visit some second-hand markets, you never know what you may discover. Furthermore, in some stores, you can find real treasures such as various motives, candle holders, etc. As for the wedding decor, the FB marketplace is a great place to start searching.

No. 7  don't compare yourself to others

It's easy to get wrapped up in the wedding industry and want things that you may not be able to afford. Remember that every couple is different, and as long as you're both happy with your plans, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks!

On a final note, remember to have fun with the planning process. This is one of the most memorable chapters of your life, so enjoy it!
